CS2's developer console has a set of knife commands that let you spawn any knife model directly in an offline match. Pick it up, run around with it, hit F to trigger the inspect animation, and swing it a few times. In under a minute you'll know whether it's actually worth the money.

What Are CS2 Knife Commands?

A vanilla Butterfly Knife can already run into hundreds of dollars, while rare patterns like Karambit Blue Gem can cost tens of thousands. Using console commands to try before you buy is just smart.
Step 1 – Enable the Developer Console
Before anything else, you need the console open.
Go to Settings → Game → Enable Developer Console and set it to Yes. The default key to open it is ~ (tilde), but you can rebind it in keyboard settings if needed.
Step 2 – Start an Offline Game
Knife commands require sv_cheats 1, which only works in offline bot matches or private servers you control. Load into any map through the console or the offline play menu.
Once you're in, open the console and type:
sv_cheats 1
This unlocks cheat commands for your session. It won't get you banned – VAC only flags third-party software, not console commands in private matches.
Step 3 – Enable Knife Dropping
By default, CS2 won't let you drop your knife. You need to unlock that first:
mp_drop_knife_enable 1
