Envy Returns To CS2?

After more than five years away from professional Counter-Strike, Envy could be preparing to return to the game.

The organization recently teased its comeback on X with the message “The bomb has been planted” and a video leading up to it showing a ticking CS2 bomb. This led to speculation that an official announcement is coming soon.

Reports now suggest that Envy could acquire the current 3DMAX roster rather than build a new team from scratch.

Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but the possibility of Envy returning with a French lineup has already caught the CS2 community's attention.

Who Was Team Envy in Counter-Strike?

Team Envy, formerly known as Team EnVyUs, was founded in 2007 and became one of the biggest names in esports through Call of Duty. The organization entered CS:GO in 2015 with a French lineup that quickly established itself among the strongest teams in the world. Their Major-winning roster included:

• Vincent "Happy" Cervoni – IGL and Lurker
• Kenny "kennyS" Schrub – Main AWPer
• Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt – Support and Secondary Caller
• Dan "apEX" Madesclaire – Entry Fragger
• Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey – Anchor

Their biggest achievement came at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015, where EnVyUs defeated Natus Vincere in the Grand Final to win the Major.

During the same year, the team also collected several other big titles, including IEM Gamescom 2015, DreamHack Open London 2015, and Gfinity 2015 Champion of Champions. In 2017, Envy won the WESG 2016 World Finals, taking home an $800,000 prize.

However, the organization struggled to maintain the same level of success in the following years. After several roster changes and attempts to move away from its traditional French lineup, Envy eventually stepped away from professional Counter-Strike in January 2021.

Envy's Reported CS2 Roster

The latest reports connect Envy with the current 3DMAX lineup.

The reported roster consists of:

• Filip “Graviti” Brankovic – Rifler
• Kévin “misutaaa” Rabier – Rifler
• Jérémy “Kursy” Gast – Rifler and Secondary AWPer

Rather than putting together five new players, Envy would reportedly acquire an established roster that already has experience playing together.

The rumors also appeared at an interesting time for 3DMAX. The team recently reached the grand final of Logitech G Play Connect 2026, defeating Luminosity 3:2 to win the tournament. And throughout the tournament, they wore plain black T-shirts, without the team or sponsor logos.

At the same time, reports have discussed financial issues surrounding 3DMAX Organization, including claims of unpaid salaries and prize money. A move to another organization could therefore give the players a new home while allowing Envy to return with an already-developed lineup.

What to Expect From Envy in CS2?

If the reported deal goes through, Envy would return to Counter-Strike with a roster that already has chemistry and tournament experience.

However, recreating the success of the 2015 EnVyUs lineup would be a completely different challenge. CS2 has a much more international competitive scene, and the new Envy roster would have to establish itself against the game's strongest teams.

For now, the biggest question is simply whether the 3DMAX players will actually become Envy's new lineup or not.
