Note that item values depend on factors like skin type, float value, and pattern. ROI estimates you see online usually exclude rare patterns such as Case Hardened Blue Gems or Full Fades.
Since ROI can vary based on luck, most websites calculate the average ROI through simulated openings.
Math behind average ROI Calculation
We did the same test using the CS:GO Weapon Case 2, which had, at the moment, an average ROI of 73.02%.
To do this, we ran 10 simulations of 100 openings each (1,000 total).
After each batch, we noted the ROI, then calculated the average — 68.15%.
This number represents what you could typically expect from a batch of openings.
But how do we know it's reliable?
That's where statistics help. ROI changes with every batch, but those results tend to cluster around an average.
In statistics, about 68% of values fall within ±1 standard deviation, and 95% fall within ±2.
We calculated a standard deviation of 11.2 using Excel.
Since CSROI's large-scale result is 73.02%, we can assume that 68% of results will fall between 73.02 ± 11.2, or roughly 62% to 84%.
